DKJA Honored As A Lighthouse School
By The FranklinCovey
Organization Leader In Me

It's a Win Win
When DKJA embraced becoming a FranklinCovey Leader in Me School five years ago, it did so with the “Win-Win” attitude exemplified by the The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People leadership principles.

The school’s commitment was recognized, and in May of this year, DKJA was honored as one of only 152 LIM Lighthouse Schools – and the only Jewish community day school in the world — to have earned the prestigious designation. Earning Lighthouse status demonstrates DKJA’s exemplary achievements as a leadership model for all ages.

DKJA is the only K-12 Jewish Day School in the country to have the honor of becoming a FranklinCovey Leader In Me School. DKJA will be a model leadership institute for schools throughout the United States. FranklinCovey is a partner with the Center for the Advancement of Jewish Education (CAJE) Miami to develop an enriching leadership program infused with Jewish text and values. As part of this partnership, DKJA integrates school curricula and Jewish principles with the world-famous books The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People and The Leader in Me. Through the use of customized materials developed by FranklinCovey and CAJE for Jewish schools, DKJA demonstrates the connection between Jewish living, learning, and academic achievement within the framework of FranklinCovey¹s leadership training program.

This enriching program creates a culture rich in Jewish values, character development and leadership skills. The process brings the principle centered leadership techniques found in The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People to the school classroom. These habits include personal responsibility, goal setting, time management, effective communication, and teamwork.
Students in grades K-12 shined at our first ever Lev Tov...Leading with Kindness Leadership Day. Outstanding, creative showcases of all principles of the 7 Habits of Highly Effective People were combined with creative examples of living with kindness. All were beautiful, and the day was a huge success!

"The classrooms, hallways, our campus and our student performance demonstrated clearly that at DKJA, we know how to syn
ergize!" said Mrs. Anita Schwartz, Lighthouse Coordinator, for whom "THANK YOU" is an understatement. Mrs. Schwartz's tireless efforts, along with our d edicated team of staff, faculty and administrators, and of course our student Lighthouse leaders, made the day a pinnacle of success. They worked hand-in-hand with the Lighthouse Leadership Team comprised of Mrs. Allie Hasson, Mrs. Sydney Siegel,  Mrs. Jaime Bricker and Mrs. Schwartz. Appreciation goes to Mrs. Lauren Ostrow and Mrs. Lindsey Gaines for preparing their model classrooms and training their students. A big thank you to Mrs. Zoraida A dams, Mrs. Liat Luel-Rochberg and Mrs. Karen Mart, who worked tirelessly on all of the musical numbers and the skits.
